The DW-5040PG is one of the 40th anniversary models in the RECRYSTALLIZED SERIES lineup. The design of the first model, DW-5000C, is retained, but stainless steel parts such as the caseback, buckle, and ring are treated with a new processing technology that combines deep hardening and recrystallization. The development team was led at the time by Mr. Yuichi Masuda, now President, CEO and CHRO of CASIO Computer Co. and Mr. Kikuo Ibe. We sat down with Hodinkee Japan Editor-in-Chief Yu Sekiguchi to ask these two legends what they think of G-SHOCK’s past and future, and to hear stories that can only be told now that the watch is celebrating its 40th anniversary.
